SE Collective: Private Tutoring & Educational Services

With 19 years of experience in K–12 education and a Master’s degree in Education with endorsements in Special Education and Giftedness, I have dedicated my career to helping students build the skills and confidence they need to thrive.

For the past seven years, I have worked as a private tutor supporting learners of all ages across subjects. My work with younger students often includes Orton-Gillingham instruction, multi sensory math, reading fluency and comprehension, foundations of writing, and enrichment. With older students, I focus on analytical writing, research and documentation, sciences, mathematics, and ACT/SAT preparation. When working with adults, most of my work is focused on utilization and navigation of all things technology so they can learn to use their devices confidently.

SE Collective - About Us

A Note for Parents:

If you’re here as a parent, you may be feeling unsure, concerned, or simply wanting more for your child.

I work closely with families navigating school meetings, placement decisions, evaluations for special education services, 504 plans, or gifted identification. These processes can feel overwhelming and are often filled with unfamiliar language. My role is to help you understand your options, prepare for conversations, and advocate with clarity and confidence.

You know your child best. My job is to help you translate that knowledge into effective communication within the school setting and to ensure your child receives the support that matches their needs.

Whether we are strengthening academic skills or planning next steps within the school system, my goal is always the same: to help students feel capable and families feel supported.

Family Experiences

“There is not enough space to say all the reasons Shealin has been an incredible educator for our children. We have two young sons (9) and (7) and spent an extended stay in Jackson Hole this winter. Shealin was the perfect tutor to help accommodate our boys’ needs across literacy, mathematics and social studies. She proactively coordinated with the boy’s teachers in advance of our arrival and mapped out a math/reading lesson plan for our time together (she is incredibly organized!). She has a highly professional and friendly demeanor which has commanded attention/respect of young/easily distracted clientele (e.g. she has enabled our youngest to see merits of “slowing-down”, put-in full efforts with his work, and achieve more successful outcomes). While also giving our older guy the confidence he needs and guidance to surpass his goals daily. We think of Shealin as an extension/on-par with any teacher they have at home and are thankful for all her work to maintain their continued development in a non-traditional classroom environment. We would highly recommend Shealin to anyone in need of a great tutor.”

“Working with Shealin has been an exceptional investment in our children's academic futures. She provides highly individualized instruction tailored to each student’s strengths, ensuring both measurable growth and lasting confidence. Her professionalism, discretion, and commitment to excellence set her apart. The progress we’ve seen has exceeded our expectations. Our high schooler was able to pass his AP course test and our middle school student passed multiple end of grade tests for the first time thanks to her unwavering commitment to excellence.”

“I'm not into tech and honestly hate everything about it because it's hard for me. Shealin helped me with Internet navigation and how to operate my PC and despite being the ripe age of 74, I now know how to use my email, Google Meet and Zoom, and tasks for my daily life too. I'm so thankful for her help because I can now virtually meet with family far away and say cool things to my grandchildren like "Wanna zoom later?" and I can even send the link! She was patient and explicit and instead of showing me everything, she made me work through it and that seems to have made all the info stick in my brain. I guess my wife was right, I needed a tutor. I learned a lot so I highly recommend Shealin.”

“When our young son was diagnosed with Dyslexia, we were so lost with how to proceed to get him extra help and didn't even know what that diagnosis really even meant. Shealin was instrumental in explaining Dyslexia and helping us advocate for him at his school for additional interventions in his class and on tests. We had never heard of Orton-Gillingham but she walked us through how it works and we knew it would make a huge impact for him. The sessions are intense but he was able to unlearn some coping skills he had developed and replace them with applicable skills that he was consistently applying even aloud when we read or worked on writing at home. She was patient with him and very affirming. He enjoys his time with Shealin each week and is soaring in school now. Most importantly, he has confidence and troubleshoots instead of breaking down in tears or anger when he is working on a hard task.”
